Phoenix programs are designed to accomplish our mission of improving the lives of people we served. Our primary focus is on assisting and enabling individuals to reach their personal vocational potential and goals. Certainly all can agree that few things add more to a person’s quality of life than gainful employment and financial independence.

In addition to the obvious ethical and intrinsic value of such programs, the reduction or elimination of an individual’s dependence on society for their basic needs offers a dramatic savings to the taxpayers. Using the formula developed by the US Office of Manpower and Budget, US taxpayers saved $723,445 due to Phoenix programs in fiscal year 2004. This is based on an average starting wage of $6.50 an hour for the 151 individuals we helped place in jobs in FY 04.

Additionally, Phoenix staff members and resources are available to employers and individuals as a resource for disability issues both in the community and in the workplace.

  • Phoenix's numerous community based programs are designed to help individuals; primarily those with disabilities go to work
  • 1000 people will be served in three counties of Alabama and six in Tennessee
  • Phoenix provides 15% of burial flags for the Department of Veteran Affairs
  • Each dollar invested in Vocational Rehabilitation returns $19.64 to the economy (500% annual return rate)
  • The return to society and public treasury is $2 for every $1 of wages paid to our employees (100% return is for each and every year for persons who remain at work)
